Ditch the glitz and glam of Las Vegas steakhouses and artisan sushi bars for one meal and go back to a timeless favorite – the Great American burger. While an old school classic, Sin City never knows when to leave well enough alone: the gourmet burger trend hit the Strip a few years ago and, since then, restaurants all over the city have mastered the craft. Check out these six joints that will give your go-to food a little something extra.
1. I ♥ Burgers
Thought cheeseburgers were just for dinner? Think again. While the Venetian’s I ♥ Burgers menu is more extensive at later hours, the restaurant has made its signature meal one best served before 11 a.m. Classic sandwiches, omelets, and burritos finish a menu full of unique options, like the I ♥ Loco Moco (steamed white rice, grass-fed beef patty, two eggs, brown gravy, and a garnish of kimchi) and the I ♥ Joes Scramble (grass-fed ground beef, spinach, onions, mushrooms, and scrambled eggs with Parmesan cheese). Top it off with an I ♥ Bloody Marys (Ketel One vodka, house-made Bloody Mary mix, and an Applewood-smoked bacon strip) for a breakfast you won’t likely forget.
Location: The Shoppes at The Palazzo, 3327 Las Vegas Blvd S.2. Holsteins
Homegrown and local is the name of the game at Holsteins, where the menu features specialty burgers, house-made sausages, and riffs on traditional American snacks and appetizers. In addition to delicious (and often boozy) shakes, well-seasoned beef, and interesting toppings are what make this joint worth a visit. Two of the best on the menu, the Gold Standard and the Rising Sun, will have you salivating before you set foot in the door. The Gold Standard features a dry-aged beef sirloin burger with smoked bacon, aged goat cheddar cheese, tomato confit, plus arugula and garlic-chive aioli. The Rising Sun is Kobe beef with a teriyaki glaze, nori furikake, crispy yam, spicy mayo, and tempura avocado.
Location: The Cosmopolitan, 3708 S Las Vegas Blvd.3. Pizza Rock
Finding the burger menu at this pizza joint takes a little ingenuity, but flip to the back of the menu and skip the restaurant’s name-sake item for a satisfying experience. There are only three burgers on the menu but each is made with Kobe beef and presents a unique flavor combination. The Burrata Burger is reminiscent of a traditional bacon cheeseburger but brings something new to the table with burrata cheese, bacon, caramelized onions, arugula, and a balsamic reduction. The downtown restaurant also offers 30 craft beers on tap and in bottles.
Location: 201 N 3rd St.
4. Bachi Burger
Even though the burger is a classic American dish, Bachi Burger brings in Asian influences for an undeniable kick of flavor. Explaining the flavor combinations is almost impossible without a comprehensive list of ingredients – and Bachi is very secretive about their menu – but foie gras, asian peaches, miso butter, and mizuna lettuce are just some of the toppings that take this restaurant from being and also-ran to a stand-out option. Try this off-the-strip option to take your burger pallette to a whole new dimension.
Location: 470 E. Windmill Lane, 9410 W Sahara Ave. or 6825 W Russell Road.5. Stripburger
As the name suggests, Stripburger, located inside Fashion Show Mall, offers a nice view of The Strip with patio seating right across from the Wynn Las Vegas. If you’re in the mood for a no-frills burger, this joint is going to offer exactly what you’re looking for: classic burgers and a short-list of favorite cocktails and cold beers. There are plenty of toppings and specialty options, but you can’t go wrong with the classic bacon cheeseburger – which sells for just under $11. Stripburger’s essence is simple outdoor dining and drinking for the casual eater, something that can’t be overlooked in this age of burger innovation.
Location: 3200 S Las Vegas Blvd.
6. Bobby’s Burger Palace
The quick-serve gourmet chain Bobby’s Burger Palace is one of the newest on the strip, but serious burger people are already calling it a favorite. The menu takes its inspiration from great cities across America and gives each its own unique spin in relation to its locale; the Dallas burger features BBQ sauce, the Philadelphia has griddled onions and hot peppers, and the Vegas is topped with Fresno red chilies. A burger from celebrity chef Bobby Flay can come in at under $10. Like I ♥ Burgers, the restaurant has coined a brunch burger – this one featuring a fried egg, smoked bacon, and American cheese. Any burger can also be “crunchified” by adding potato chips.
Location: 3750 South Las Vegas Blvd.
