Going out for a drink has a whole new meaning in Sin City, where nothing is simple and flash is the name of the game. Casinos, restaurants, and stand-alone bars have made mixology an art, making one-of-a-kind drink experiences for the adventurous sipper.
With so many establishments offering their own brand of potent potable, it can be hard to separate the wheat from the chaff (make that, the wheat ales from the stouts). But worry not, we’ve taken one for the team and tried every single drink available in Vegas. The following five are some of the most creative and delicious in town!
1. Peruvian Love, Fusion Mixology Bar (at the Palazzo)
Latin music reminiscent of the Rumba, Salsa, and Samba, alongside photos of South American beaches, landmarks and dancing, help this casino-floor bar stand out from the rest. Drinks from Mexico, Trinidad, Brazil, and Peru made from Tequila, Rum, Cachaca, and Pisco dominate the menu. A perfectly balanced drink, Peruvian Love combines mango-infused La Diablada pisco with Cointreau, rock-candy syrup, lavender bitters, and cranberry and lime juices.
2. Social Misfit, Social (at The Palms)
At The Palms’ Social bar, they know you can’t be tied down to one counter long enough to finish their unique Bulleit rye, Disaronno, and Nagomi white peach purée cocktail. Instead, take it to go in an embossed aluminum flask, easy to sip from as you frantically try to beat the dealer to 21. If you want to stick around to finish a glitzy drink, ask veteran bartenders for the list of “Top 10 Girls Night Out” martinis.
3. Up in Smoke, Apostrophe (at Caesars Palace)
As the name suggests, drinking the Up in Smoke makes you feel like you’re sitting between chainsmokers at Caesars’ new Apostrophe bar. Knob Creek smoked maple bourbon, Carpano Antica vermouth, and Ancho Reyes chile liqueur (with a few blueberries on top) come together to make the cocktail. The Up in Smoke is just one of the fascinating bevvies available at this classic casino’s newest watering hole.
4. Exotique, Laguna Champagne Bar (at The Palazzo)
The Laguna Champagne Bar is just steps from the casino floor in the Venetian’s sister-hotel. The high-class spot is slightly raised and boasts a perfect viewing spot for all of the casino’s excitement. While soaking it in, sip on the Exotique – a cocktail made with Belvedere Wild Berry, Grand Marnier Raspberry Peach, fresh lime, pineapple juice, cranberry juice, Moet, and Moet & Chandon Brut. If that’s a little too much flavor for your palate, don’t fear, the everyday menu boasts other equally-tasty options.
5. The Secretariat, Talent Club (at The Cosmopolitan)
The Cosmopolitan’s handcrafted drinks are a thing of legend – the hotel and casino boasts its creative concoctions all over the property, with the Talent Club being no exception. Be prepared for sticker-shock: the high-roller bar has outrageous prices (The Secretariat costs $250) but, next time you hit it big at the craps table, give it a try. The drink priced for a king features Courvoisier L’Essence, Grand Marnier Cinquantenaire, five-spice syrup, lemon juice, orange zest, and star anise garnish.
