What days of the week are you going to be in Vegas? Typically, people work a weekend into their Sin City excursions. If (make that when) your Saturday gets wild, you’ll need a bountiful brunch on Sunday morning to recover. There are several great and memorable places to try. If you want my two eggs’ worth (over easy), here are your best options.
With locations at Caesars and the Mandalay Bay, Border Grill is a tremendous brunch experience. For $35, you get unlimited small plates that include guava empanadas, PB&J (B for bacon, and J for jalapeno), and shrimp and grits. For another $10, you get unlimited mimosas. Not only is this worth a stop on your way out of town, you should schedule time for it on your itinerary. Brunch is available Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM.
This is a Vegas classic. Ever since Bally’s Steakhouse became BLT Steak, the “Sterling Brunch” has been an expensive, decadent, and delicious experience. All-you-can-drink Perrier-Jouet Champagne, lobster, sturgeon caviar, and omelets with every high-end ingredient you can think up are available. It’s $90, but consider one bottle of the champagne goes for $120 at dinner. They are open for brunch on Sundays from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM.
The Sunday Brunch at Lago practically seats you in the Bellagio’s fountains. James Beard Award-winning chef Julian Serrano has every element of brunch on lock. A basket of fresh made pastries start the festivities. For mains, choose something tasty from the antipasti menu, like pasta pocket with truffle ricotta or duck and polenta or a brunch staple like a frittata, eggplant parmesan benedict, or ricotta and egg yolk. But be sure to save room for one of his delectable desserts. Lago is an experience as much as a meal, and for $38, you’ll get three excellent courses and an ambiance you’ll never forget. Brunch is available on Sundays between 11:00 AM and 2:30 PM.
Hash House A Go Go has several locations around town including at the Imperial Palace. While this isn’t the elegant meal that you might normally picture for a big-time Vegas brunch, the portions are large, the prices are reasonable, and the the hours are long. (Brunch is served for most of the day on Saturday and Sunday.) The mantra of “twisted farm food” is right on. They also do themed meals; if you happen to be in town for Father’s Day, enjoy the meaty specials like crispy fried chicken quesadilla or papi chulo hash with pork tenderloin. You’ll get your money’s worth.
