People come to Las Vegas to spend money. Be it at a craps table, on fancy cocktails or at world-class shows, nobody thinks their Sin City vacation is going to be easy on their checkbooks. Big-time retailer have figured out that Las Vegas is as much a shopping destination as it is a gambling one, and have opened big flagship stores on the strip to take advantage.
If the casinos are kind to you on your next visit, check out one of these flagship locations sure to take your breath away.
The Louis Vuitton shop in the luxury brand’s City Center store is pulling double duty. Not only does the City Center location do more than the average store – offering fragrance refills and hot stamping – but it also acts as an exhibition hall, hosting a permanent installation by American artist James Turrell. The exhibit, titled “Akhob,” capitalizes on Turrell’s specialty – manipulation of visual perception through light and space. The large-scale installation is above the Louis Vuitton store.
Continuing with the art-loving theme, the City Center store is also one of the few brick-and-mortar locations that offers the Masters LV X Koons collection, which transposes original works by Da Vinci, Titian, Rubens, Fragonard and Van Gogh onto iconic Louis Vuitton bags. The Neverfull tote featuring the Mona Lisa retails for $3,200.
The biggest perk of the Barneys Las Vegas flagship store in the Palazzo isn’t the shopping the chain is known for, but the concierge serves that extend way beyond the walls of the upscale retailer. If you’re a valued customer, assistance is available onsite for restaurant reservations; tickets to shows, concerts and sporting events; and car services. Of course, the store is also happy to help with that to wear to those recently-booked experiences, and offers complimentary personal shoppers. They can do everything from getting you first dibs on trunk shows, personal appearances and special events. Barneys New York has five other flagship stores nationwide and carries brands like Balenciaga, Gucci, Fendi and Saint Laurent.
The Italian fashion house opened its 7,000 square-foot flagship store in Las Vegas in 2015 at The Shops at Crystals. The two-story location sits right off Las Vegas Boulevard and offers the latest in men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, shoes, bags, accessories and eyewear. The store looks the part, too, boasting a giant, black facade with internally-lit window displays and massive glass double doors. Hey, if you’re going to drop $3,000 on a purse, you may as well be seen doing it.
This Swiss luxury watch brand went straight to Las Vegas when it took the plunge into the North American market, opening its first flagship on the continent in The Shops at Crystals. The “lifestyle retail environment” offers watches, including boutique-exclusive and limited-edition product; vintage stainless steel cufflinks; eyewear and leather goods. The store is only 800 square feet, but watches don’t take up that much space.
The store may be smaller than many flagships but the thought that went into the displays make up for it. The watches are showcased at eye-level inside customized wall niches that are made of zebrawood, hand-brushed aluminium, and glass and cream leather intended to allow customers to “shop in an effortless and comfortable manner.”
This teenage hot-spot cannot be described as a luxury brand, but that doesn’t make its flagship store at Fashion Show Mall anymore jaw dropping. After spending years in a 4,900-square-foot space (an average-sized store for the brand) in the mall, Forever 21 spent millions remodeling and finally opened a 126,000-square-foot space in 2010.
The shop is the largest in the world for the Los Angeles-based brand, which sells cosmetics for an average of $2 and dresses for as little as $12. We’re not sure why you’d ever need hundreds of thousands of square feet worth of $4 t-shirts, but it’s now an option. The store also has 36 cash registers and 132 fitting rooms, so if you’re checking it out, be sure to make a day of it.
