No trip to Las Vegas is complete without that metaphorical cherry on top. For some people, that extra treat might be a brunch before they leave town. For others, it might be a trip to the golf course. For me, it’s often quite literally a cherry.
Most of the great restaurants in Vegas offer their own unique desserts, but who has the best? My taste buds have their priorities in order. Do yours?
Joel Robuchon, dubbed the “Chef of the Century” for his 28 Michelin stars, has two restaurants in the United States. Both are located in the MGM Grand. At his namesake spot they load up carts with breads, chocolates, adult cocktails, and extravagant pieces of art that double as dessert, tempting your eyes and palate alike. There is no going wrong, just don’t stop by when full. Leave plenty of room for dessert, or consider having dessert as your entire meal.
Most people go to this steakhouse at the Planet Hollywood for large cuts of meat. However, the show stopper is their 24-layer chocolate cake. It you are a chocoholic, it’s perfection. Rich and sweet with various textures, the experience is worth the guilt that comes with it. You’re in Las Vegas, spoil yourself.
Sprinkles Cupcakes and Ice Cream is a part of the larger Sugar Factory which, itself, resides in a 30,000-square-foot complex in the heart of The Strip. A cross between an old fashioned candy store and a bakery, Sprinkles is just as good when it’s closed as when it’s open. How can that be? Two words: cupcake ATM. Yes, when the lights go out, you can still make sugary withdrawals of all the store’s finest goodies. The bonus: cupcakes are $5 or less.
You can stop by Caesars Palace and grab all sorts of sweets at this funky, high-class dessert mecca anytime. But if you’re going big in Sin City, then you should really splurge. For the cool sum of $1,000, the Golden Opulence Sundae can be yours! All you need to do, besides lay down the cash, is place the order 48 hours in advance, ensuring Serendipity can procure the top-shelf ingredients. We’re talking truffles from Paris, passion fruit-infused caviar, homemade Tahitian vanilla bean ice cream, edible sugar flowers painted with edible gold, 24K gold dust flakes, and gold leaf from Switzerland.
Are you worried about dropping a grand on such a fleeting experience? Don’t be! You get to keep the baccarat crystal glass and gold-plated spoon.
