If you aren’t into fancy spas and don’t like to sit in a windowless room watching your hard-earned money go down the drain, Las Vegas can seem like the last place you want to visit. Don’t be fooled though; Sin City serves as a massive gathering place for people of all kinds, and there is almost always something going on for everyone to enjoy.
Whether you make your home off the Strip or are just visiting, this March offers a variety of events that are just slightly off the beaten path.

There are all kinds of medical conferences, but this one is a little different. The HIGH TIMES U.S. Cannabis Cup is coming to Las Vegas for the first time to celebrate Nevada’s recent legalization of recreational marijuana. The event prides itself on being at the front of the continuously-evolving weed industry and will offer a live grow room, a cannabis career fair, “edibles village,” a topical massage spa, vape lounge and more. The convention will offer medial card verification and have doctors on-site for medical evaluations. You must be over 21 to attend and there will be a bag search at the door. The most expensive tickets (a VIP pass sold for $420) are sold out but you can still get in for anywhere from $20 to $195. Tickets are available here or at the door.
Location: Valley of Fire Highway and I-15, Moapa.
Belly dancers from around the world will come to Las Vegas this month for BellyDance College, an immersive instructional school where intermediate, advanced and professional dancers come together to learn from iconic instructors. The Massive Spectacular at 7 p.m. on March 5th will put “Bellydance Superstars” on stage for a one-night showcase. This awe-inspiring event will mesmerize audience members in this theatrical experience that has over 6.4 million YouTube views.
The best part? All proceeds from stage shows go to toward the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation. Tickets are available at the door of Railhead inside Boulder Station Hotel & Casino. The rest of the week, participants will study at Backstage Dance Studio.
Location: Boulder Station Hotel & Casino, 4111 Boulder Hwy, Las Vegas.
For the 28th year, alcohol connoisseurs will gather in Crimson at Red Rock Casino for the Splendor in the Glass wine and beer tasting benefiting Southern Nevada Public Television. Over 40 wineries and breweries will serve their best to attendees, who will sip while participating in a silent auction and enjoying live entertainment. It is a fundraiser so tickets are cheap; you can get in for $90 if you make advance reservations or pay $100 at the door.
Location: 11011 W Charleston Blvd, Las Vegas.
Be immersed into one of the most popular fictional worlds of our time at the Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. The Seven Kingdoms will be brought to life with state-of-the-art technology that takes attendees from King’s Landing to Winterfell and Meereen. The score, created by Ramin Djawadi, will be performed with a full orchestra and choir on Saturday, March 25th. Tickets start at $40.
Location: 3799 Las Vegas Boulevard S., Las Vegas.
Springs Preserve will host the third annual Nevada Women’s Film Fest to showcase female films and filmmakers from around the world. The Femmy Awards will give special attention to a number of creators including the Nevada Woman Filmmaker of the Year. This year’s special guest filmmaker is Ana Lily Amirpour, a Vanguard Award recipient, who will screen her film “A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night” and conduct a Q&A.
The most interesting event is the annual Young Filmmakers’ Showcase, which will take place at 10 a.m. on March 25th. A full schedule of screenings and programing can be found here.
