After trying the best restaurants, seeing the best shows, hitting the best nightclubs and drinking one-too-many of the best cocktails in Las Vegas, the morning after can be daunting. To help chase away the hangover and start the recovery process, check out these five best coffee shops sure to get some caffeine back in your blood stream.
Mingle with the locals and try a few unusual menu items at the small Grouchy John’s coffee shop on Maryland Parkway. More than just it’s unusual drinks (like the Curious George which combines honey, banana, espresso and steamed milk), the coffee shop offers fun activities, like a newly added board game collection, and hosts events to bring people together: such as the Caffeine and Canvas event with local artist Tommy Vinci. If you’re lucky, you’ll see the shop’s mobile truck around town and not even have to make the trip.
Location: 8520 S Maryland Parkway, Las Vegas.
The Beat Coffeehouse & Records
The original hipster coffee shop of Downtown Las Vegas, The Beat is much more than a place to grab a latte. Free WiFi, a menu with a plethora of food and alcoholic options make this go-to shop stand out in the sea of coffee vendors, but its traditional menu options aren’t anything to scoff at either. As the name suggests, a record store makes its home in the back and entertainment includes an open mic night and live music.
Location: 520 Fremont St., Las Vegas.
When Holley Steely gave up her job as an aerialist in “La Reve” at Wynn Las Vegas, she planted her feet firmly on the ground and opened this quaint coffee joint with a unique brewing method. Unlike traditional coffee shops, Steely grinds the beans per-order and uses the “pour over” method to prepare each cup. Light and dark brews (including Sumatra Mandheling and Ethiopian Yirgacheffe), green smoothies and an organic tea selection make up the menu. Catch an open mic night each Thursday.
Location: 9265 S. Cimarron Road, Las Vegas.
This coffee shop brings an appreciation for the arts with a gallery featuring for-sale works from local artists that goes up on a rotating basis. One of the newest shops on the list, this store has been open just five years and caters to the millennial hipster crowd with its free wifi and local vibe. The menu features “Perked Up” lattes with unique offerings such as Mr. Toffee (white chocolate, English toffee and macadamia nut) and Cookie Smoothies & Cream (blended with chocolate and cream-filled sandwich cookies).
Location: 11370 Southern Highlands Parkway, Las Vegas.
Three Sambalatee Torrefazione locations are scattered throughout the city, but the shop in the Monte Carlo outdoor plaza offers a relaxing way to escape the hustle and bustle of The Strip. The lattes are some of the best in Las Vegas and dining options go beyond the usual breakfast sandwiches and pastries with an array of Latin and Brazilian cuisines to choose from. Top off your meal with a refreshing gelato to complete the experience.
Location: 3770 S. Las Vegas Blvd., Las Vegas.
