While most people call up grandparents and babysitters before leaving for a weekend in Vegas, some parents end up with kids in tow when they arrive. If your little ones snuck into your suitcase, here are five kid-friendly attractions in a city better known for adult-only entertainment.
1. The Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat
Tigers, lions, and leopards are just a few of the magical creatures roaming through Siegfried and Roy’s Secret Garden. The scenery is worth visiting on its own, but the price tag may be even more attractive. Children three and under are free, while four to 12-year-olds get in at a discount. If you visit in the winter, all-day adventure passes are just $5.
If you want to do more than roam the gardens, other activities like painting or yoga with dolphins, VIP tours, and the “Dolphin Trainer for a Day” experience are also available.
Location: 3400 S. Las Vegas Blvd.
Rain or shine, Adventuredome provides five acres of indoor rides, carnival games, food, and entertainment. The indoor amusement park has rides and rollercoasters of all sizes, so it’s suitable for small children, the whole family, and high-intensity thrill seekers. Current attractions include the Spongebob Squarepants 4-D movie The Great Jelly Rescue, Happy Feet: Memble’s Wild Ride 4D, and Chaos, an ultra-thrill ride with three ranges of motion and unbelievably high speeds. All-day passes are $31.95 for adults and $17.95 for kids. Individual ride passes are also available.
Location: 2880 S. Las Vegas Blvd.
3. Las Vegas Springs Preserve
Las Vegas Springs Preserve is one of the most beautiful attractions in the city, featuring botanical gardens, two museums, 180-acres of trails, plus events and traveling exhibits. Both the Origin Museum and Nevada State Museum are on site, as well as other kid-friendly attractions like the outdoor playground, craft events and hands-on nature exchange. Live desert animals like Gila monsters, desert cottontails, and leopard frogs are also featured, along with story times and revolving exhibits. Children aged five to 17 get in at a discounted rate.
Location: 333 S. Valley View Blvd.
4. Sky Zone
Get the family off of the couch and try this active, indoor trampoline park just ten minutes from the strip. A large separated play area gives young children a safe space, while older kids can enjoy dodgeball courts, giant foam pits, a basketball area, and large open bounce floors. Staff members monitor at all times for safety, so there’s no reason not to try this unique form of exercise that will make you the “cool” parent.
Location: 7440 Dean Martin Dr.
5. Discovery Children’s Museum
Perhaps the only attraction so close to the strip with literally hundreds of activities for kids, the new Discovery Children’s Museum has been open for just two years and the three-story building features a water play area and “toddler town.” The first floor is full of dramatic play props like a pirate ship and castle; the second floor allows kids to run their own banks, restaurants, veterinary clinics and more; while the art and inventions on the third floor will have your kids’ creative juices flowing. Admission is $14.50 for all ages.
Location: 360 Promenade Place
