Fist pumps at the ready! Jerzday Thursdsays are back, and we couldn’t be more ready for a little GTL in our lives.
There is still about a month to go before the April 5th premiere of Jersey Shore Family Vacation, but the anticipation is already high. So high that MTV has actually already renewed the reunion series for a second season (location yet to be announced). The original series aired from 2009-2012, ending after three short — but rowdy — years. With the announcement that a second season is in the bag already, fans can breathe a little easier knowing their beloved family isn’t leaving again anytime soon.
The return of the hit MTV reality series will reunite original housemates Paul “Pauly D” Delvecchio, Jenni “JWOWW” Farley, Vinny Guadagnino, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino — along with Deena Nicole Cortese — for the “vacation of a lifetime.” Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola is the only star who won’t be returning, reportedly sitting out of the special due to her ex-boyfriend Ronnie.
Set on the beaches of sunny Miami, Jersey Shore Family Vacation promises to live up to both its name and reputation. Though this time around, they’re bringing their partners (and kids!) along for the ride, a teaser for the series hints that the crew is still just as rowdy as ever. If you thought that the years would calm this crew down, think again. If Ronnie’s got his beer bong out on the first day of production, we’ve got a feeling this is going to be quite the throwback.
The only spouse missing from the series will be Snooki’s husband, Jionni LaValle, who firmly announced via Instagram that he is “CHOOSING TO NOT be on TV because [he] simply [does] NOT like it.”
While we can’t say we are totally surprised, we will say that we are disappointed. This does not seem like the kind of family reunion you would want to miss.
Jersey Shore Family Vacation premieres on MTV on April 5th at 8 p.m., but if you really can’t wait till then, don’t worry! On March 15th, four Road to Vacation specials will air, taking a look back at the show’s best and most iconic moments. With all-new cast interviews, and Sammi Giancola, Road to Vacation is bound to be the perfect pre-game event.
In the meantime, let’s take a look at some odds for how things might go down in Miami!
O/U pickles Snooki eats on screen in first season: 5.5
O/U how long into first episode it takes Ronnie to bring out the Ron-Ron juice: 18.5 minutes
Odds that GTL is mentioned within first five minutes of first episode: 1/9
This catchphrase is Jersey Shore’s bread and butter, baby.
Odds Jersey Shore Family Vacation will be renewed for a second season: OFF
Ok, ok. This was just our sneaky way of saying, surprise! Before the first Vacation has even premiered, MTV has picked up the series for a second season. No word yet on where the second season will be filmed, but we’re hoping for something international.
Odds on where the second season of Jersey Shore Family Vacation will be filmed
Odds Paul “Pauly D” Delvecchio DJs at a club or event: 2/1
If DJ Pauly D does not get to work his magic in Miami, all faith in MTV will have been lost. This is a golden opportunity that must be seized.
Odds Jionni LaValle makes an appearance: 5/1
Snooki’s husband, Jionni, does NOT like being on TV. But, he is partnered up with a woman who has made a living out of it. While he may not have travelled to Miami to party with the fam-jam, LaValle’s complete absence from the series would be surprising. His wife and kids are going to want to FaceTime at some point, right? And, the producers are going to want to get that on air…right?
Odds Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola makes an appearance: 20/1
Sammi will be appearing on Road to Vacation, and has explicitly stated that she is not joining the family on their Miami vacation out of respect to her current relationship. If she hadn’t spoken out about the matter, we would be more inclined to think she might show up in one of the episodes, however it doesn’t seem as likely at this point. Granted, nothing is completely off the table till the series airs, but we won’t be holding our breath for Sweetheart to show up.
Odds Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino uses Ronnie’s beer bong: 25/1
Such long odds, but for good reason! In the original series, Mike Sorrentino was known for his arrogant, party-boy lifestyle — hence, the nickname. But, time has changed the man, according to some of those who know him best. In fact, the main reason JWOWW wanted to do the show was to let people see the supportive, positive, and sober side of The Situation. That’s right, The Situation has been clean and sober for two years, and while his friends may get wild around him, they’re going to do what they can to see him stay that way.
