As some of you may recall, Las Vegas is built on top of a desert. It gets kinda hot. But I have good news: it’s pool party season in Vegas. More good news: you don’t have to be beautiful to participate, though it doesn’t hurt. Whether you just want to cool down, or you are making a statement, there is a pool for every occasion in Sin City. Figure out what you’re in the mood for and then check out my list below to find the wt spot that’s right for you. (Is “wet spot” an acceptable euphemism for pool?)
The Mirage gets it. This pool is among the most aesthetically pleasing around and a great choice for families. It offers water slides, lagoons, waterfalls, and bridges over five acres of tropical island-themed fun. It’s not too deep, rather large, picturesque, and has the little ones in mind. Looking for something a little less rug-ratty? Don’t worry, their adult-friendly pool isn’t far away, either at the hotel or on this list …
Bare Pool, one of the original topless pools in Vegas, continues to be among the best in town. VIP areas include bottle service, private cabanas, and elevated daybeds. It isn’t necessarily the busiest clothing-optional pool, but it’s a classy experience and worth your time.
For several years, Drai’s After Hours has been a great place to disappear in the evening. It’s a club that doesn’t feel like all of the others. Now in their third year of operation, Drai’s Beach Club, on the 11th floor of the Cromwell, has unreal views, the hottest DJ’s, frequent celebrity sightings, bottle service until 5:00 AM, and of course, a pool, a grand beauty of a pool with pretty people frolicking all all hours.
This is kind of a make-your own-adventure pool experience. The Hard Rock has bars, hot tubs, and several pools, catering to both those who want privacy and those looking to mingle among the masses. You can play craps and blackjack in the pool; plus, there is an underwater sound system and four jacuzzis. On Sundays, the entire area is transformed into “Rehab,” a more zen experience focused on music, relaxation, and rejuvenation. Rehab includes massages, an open-flame grill, and lots of unique cocktails.
More than 18,000 square feet of The Venetian are dedicated to this Balinese-themed series of pool, located next to the Tao nightclub. During the day, the pool is private and high end. At night, the club opens to include the pool; enjoy the scenery, whether it be people watching, the newest TVs, game consoles, or top DJ’s. Tao Beach isn’t huge, but it’s intimate and elegant and you’ll enjoy your time.
Overall, this is just a great experience. There is a full scale beach that includes 2,700 tons of sand, and a wave pool that is so large it can create a six-foot high wave. They have three pools for whatever activity you are after. There are private areas, a jogging track, day beds, a river ride, and water gardens. At more than 11 acres, you’re sure to find an area that you like.
