If you’re looking to get out of the freezing cold casinos and into nature this summer – and outdoor concerts aren’t your thing – there are a number of venues hosting must-see moving screenings out of doors in Las Vegas.
These spots are all offering a variety of blockbusters and classics on outdoor screens throughout the summer – perfect for grabbing your gal on date night. It’s still Vegas, however, so while the 50s nostalgia in your heart might be real enough, these venues still have a modern edge.
Town Square’s Summer Date Night movie series offers free, family-friendly flicks on Thursday nights starting in June. Town Square has a 25-by-35-foot screen and seating is on a first come-first-served basis. Movies start when the sun goes down. Coolers with snacks and drinks are welcome, and blankets/jackets are recommended through the month of June.
Location: 6605 S Las Vegas Blvd.
The Peanuts Movie – June 23
The Adventures of Tintin – June 30
Aladdin – July 21
Rio 2 – August 18
Every Monday from Memorial Day to Labor Day, the Cosmopolitan shows your favorite films high above the Las Vegas Strip at their Boulevard Pool. It’s not quite as family friendly as Town Square; raunchier movies like Inglourious Basterds and go-to classics are what fits the bill here.
Hotel guests can attend for free, and non-hotel guests are charged a $5 cover. Cocktails are served and the D.O.C.G. Enoteca restaurant has a rotating menu to enjoy poolside or while taking a dip. Premium view lounge chairs and cabana rentals are available with food & beverage minimum, but otherwise seating is unassigned.
Location: 3708 S Las Vegas Blvd.

Thursday nights are the time to bring the family to Container Park for Family Movie Nights in the East Fremont area. Movies start with a large screen on stage at 7:00 PM, but the park also features an interactive play area to keep kids busy before the curtains are drawn. A 33-foot-tall slide and an array of food options make this an activity that can easily turn into an evening. Admission is free and seating is unassigned.
Location: 707 Fremont St.

Enchanted – May 19
The Princess and the Frog – May 26
Avengers: Age of Ultron – June 23

Unlike the other venues on the list, West Wind is a bonafide drive-in theatre showing the newest releases at prices that aren’t quite 50s-esque, but definitely still beat a traditional theatre. This summer, they’ll have all the biggest blockbusters and tickets are just $7.50 for people over 11. Still too rich for your blood? On Tuesdays, tickets are just $5.25.
Three times a year, the theatre hosts customer appreciation night where the best movies from the past few months are chosen and shown for free alongside $1 nachos. Keep an eye on the website for the next free event. Double features often showcase a PG or PG-13 movie earlier in the night, followed by a more mature film once the kids have fallen asleep in the backseat.
Location: 4150 W Carey Ave.
Independence Day: Resurgence – June 24
Ghostbusters – July 15
Jason Bourne – July 29
Suicide Squad – Aug. 5
