Tony Sinishtaj scored his first-ever World Poker Tour Main Event win at the World Poker Tour $3,500 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown, scoring his biggest payday by far and triumphing over an impressive final table. The $661,283 pushed his live earnings over $1 million.
The final table of six started with Dan Colman, who is second on the U.S. all-time money list, in the lead with Sinishtaj close on his heels. The two battled amongst each other, but it was Colman who managed the first elimination. Just 13 hands in, Simeon Naydenov fell in sixth place with an K♡, 8♡ against Colman’s A♡, 7♡. A board that made Colman’s ace a set kicked Naydenov to the curb next and he took home $132,889 for his efforts.
It wasn’t long after that Eric Beller found himself in a tight spot against Robert Mizrachi. Beller shoved for 20 blinds with an A♡, 7♤ and was quickly called by a pair of kings. A king-high flop was all it took for Beller to go home in fifth and a four-handed battle began that would be no short affair.
The players traded chips in a series of doubles until Colman went up against Sinishtaj in what would be a deadly battle. A 8♤, 6♢, 2♡ flop had Colman calling Sinishtaj’s all in with an A♡, A♤. Sinishtaj held a K♢, 8♢ and it looked like the end for the eventual winner, until a 10♢, A♢ finished the board and gave him the flush.
“I know Dan is great and he can read hands really well,” Sinishtaj told PokerNews after the win.
The elimination gave him half the chips and he laid low while Darryll Fish busted Mizrachi in third place. When heads-up play began, Fish was at a 1-2 disadvantage but managed to crawl his way back into the running with a series of dominant hands.
In the end, the pair found themselves facing an 8♢, 3♤, 2♢ flop. Sinishtaj was counting on a flush with his K♢, Q♢ and Fish was riding on a low pair with an A♤, 3♢. A 6♢ came on the turn and that was all she wrote. Fish scored a cool $453,185 for second place.
“It’s really hard to put into words. It’s a long time coming. I’ve been playing a long time, and it feels great to finally put your name on the trophy,” Sinishtaj told PokerNews after the win.
The win more than doubled Sinishtaj’s previous live cashes, which totaled $540,689. It also earned him a seat at the WPT Tournament of Champions.
