Poker legend Fedor Holz scored a massive payday when he claimed the number one spot at the PokerStars.es European Poker Tour (EPT) Season 13 €50,000 Super High Roller, a three-day even with 102 entrants. The German scored a €1,300,300 prize for the win, continuing a lucrative six-month run for the player that claimed retirement earlier this year. Holz has now accumulated $12 million in tournament cashes for his array of recent victories.
Coming into the final day, Canadian Timothy Adams was the chip leader while Erik Seidel was the short stack. It took just five hands for Seidel to hit the rail, coming up short in a four-way all-in. Seidel’s pair of nines fell to Sam Greenwood’s pocket kings; ninth-place scored him €137,130.
Julian Stuer, who also took a hit in the four-way all-in, soon found himself up against Greenwood again and his Q, 2 wasn’t enough to survive the encounter.
Daniel Dvoress went home in seventh after a three-bet all-in against Greenwood and Timothy Adams. Then Sylvain Loosli (defending EPT Barcelona High Roller champ) was eliminated in sixth to Holz.
Ahadpur Khangah, a businessman from Azerbaijan, was in the big blind when his run came to an end. He called all-in with a suited K, J and fell to Greenwood’s A, 7. Khangah managed to score a jack on the flop, but the ace that followed sent him home in fifth with €377,100.
The fourth-place finisher, Alexandros Kolonias, is no stranger to the EPT circuit – he placed second in the EPT12 Grand Final €25,000 High Roller. But his previous success counted for naught when his pocket kings went up against Holz’s set of nines.
Adams’ chip count quickly dropped in three-handed play. His last hand came when he three-bet all-in with a pair of twos against Greenwood’s A, K.
When the field was narrowed to two, Holz and Greenwood were about even in chips. Holz quickly established the lead and ended the affair on the 75th hand. Greenwood shoved with a suited 5, 6 and Holz called with A, K. The flop paired Holz’s king. Greenwood drew an open-ended straight, but it didn’t connect and he won €903,600 for second-place.
