The final PokerStars European Poker Tour kicked off on Thursday in Prague with the €10,300 No Limit Hold’em Event. Set to be replaced by the PokerStars Championship and PokerStars Festival events, the EPT will end on Dec. 19 after seven events over 11 days.
Prague has been a mainstay of the tour since 2007, and this year will be the EPT’s tenth stop in the Czech Republic The final events, the €50,000 Super High Roller and €5,300 Main Event, will see thousands of online and recreational players.
The first PokerStars festival in Atlantic City was launched in November, and the first ever PokerStars Championship will be held in January 2017 in the Bahamas, in place of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. Recent announcements revealed dates for the upcoming Championship, which will take place from Jan. 6-14.
PokerStars Festivals are week-long regional tournament series that focus on lower buy-in tournaments and draw more recreational players than the Championships. The Championships offer more selection of tournaments and buy-ins; the roughly two-week events draw both professional and serious players.
