America’s Poker Tour, the new tournament series brain-child of Fred Bevill and Derek Melicher, has announced its first ever event will take place from Sept. 29 to Oct. 2. The Majestic Star in Indiana, just outside of Chicago, will host the tournament with a $1,100 Main Event. Entry can also be gained by an array of satellites starting at $90.
Bevill and Melicher have branded the series as the lowest buy-in for a televised final table event in the country, allowing “everyday poker players the opportunity to play under the lights on a televised stage for big money without having to invest a large amount of cash.”
“This isn’t your “normal” poker show,” the press release reads. “The days of simply showing hand after hand until a winner is determined are behind us. The fun, excitement, and characters that emerge from each event are showcased!”
Only one event is scheduled for 2016. If the premier – which will be broadcast on Poker Central – goes well, there could be as many as ten the following year.
