New York poker player Rick Block beat out 569 entrants to continue his Seneca Niagara Falls Summer Slam success by winning this year’s first event – a $200 no-limit hold’em tournament with a $91,893 prize pool. Blocks’ $15,000 earning marked the third largest cash win of his career.
When Sunday’s final day began, 93 players were still in the game with five, including Block, holding over $200,000 in chips. The turning point came when Joseph Elia took out WIlliam Ho with seven players remaining, Elia’s A♤, K♤, 10♤, 2♤ and 3♤ flush taking the lead. From there, Block maintained the lead and the players came an agreement to chop the prize pool, giving Block $15,000 and the title.
Ho took home $2,803 for his seventh-place finish.
Last year, Block won the 2014 Seneca Falls Poker Classic $1,000 Main Event for $40,050. He also became a World Series of Poker Circuit ring winner in 2013.
Final table results:
